On Saturday, August 11th (rain or shine) the West Stockbridge Cultural Council will host the 9th Annual Zucchini Festival in the town center, Rts. 41/102, ¼ mile west of Exit 1 of the Mass Pike. The Festival is for families in the community and visitors alike to gather together to have fun! Attendance is free, with small fees for tickets at game booths. All are welcome!
Festivities beginning at 10:00am and continuing throughout the day will start with the popular Pet Show and Parade. There will be a cash prize for the best costumed pet. This year our logo is Zucchini Island, a summer paradise of Zucchini Palms.
There’ll be lots of opportunity to win other prizes, too, including various Zucchini-related activities such as Zucchini decorating, a Zucchini catapult (hilarious) and competitions for the heaviest, weirdest, and best looking Zucchinis. And, the best-tasting Zucchini recipe wins the bake-off contest (tastings available after the judging).
The Food court will be open all day featuring West Stockbridge restaurants and food purveyors as well as all manner of Zucchini concoctions – baked, fried, roasted, in ice cream etc.
Volunteers are needed to help out on Zucchini Day – lend a hand supervising Zucchini Car Racing, Catapult, Decorating, Zuck Races, Zocket Toss, Bounce House or Boom Blaster for an hour or two – you’ll have as much (or more) fun than the kids!
This event is sponsored by the West Stockbridge Cultural Council and the Massachusetts State Cultural Council. For a complete listing and schedule of events closer to the event date, visit www.weststockbridgetown.com or call (413) 232-0222.
